SSS #002 clips

Post by wjdunham »

Here are a couple of short clips that Doug did using a 100W #002 based amp, one clean straight into the amp, and one with a KOT in front and a delay in the loop. My favorite quality of the #002 circuit is evident in the clean clip, when you push the preamp volume up the DC couple cathode followers in the mixer stage start to give a nice asymmetrical clipping and associated compression which you can hear when Doug digs it a bit. It also adds a lot of depth and warmth to the tone when hit with a pedal as well.

Thanks guys! Doug's working on a longer clip, those were some samples he sent me to get a baseline tone. I was at his place for an afternoon a before the holidays, man what a fun way to spend some time. He had 20 or 30 guitars to choose from, and we had the amp sitting 10 feet away running through the 2x12 pointing right at us and had it up pretty loud.

He had at least 5 or 6 guitars with David Allen pickups and I was quite impressed, they made even a MIM Road Worn 50's Strat sound absolutely amazing.. My favorites were the 60's Rockin' Blues set but I can't recall which guitar they were in, I have a set on the way for my rig.

Will post more clips as they come in.
