Ceriatone HRM vs Bluesmaster

Post by mwdavis14 »

Hi everyone. I'm new to the form and have a question. I'm looking to build one of these two amps, unfortunately no opportunity to play them for decisions. I've heard/read mixed reviews about the amount of gain on tap w/the Bluesmaster, with some commenting that there really isn't much to speak of if you play w/a strat, as I do. I trust comments here more than in most locations, so anyone w/an informed opinion care to advise of their experiences?

I'd always go for the ODS over the Bluesmaster - I bought a Ceriatone Bluesmaster used and didn't like the tone at all; way too dark, so sort of a fender tone, but with little sparkle on the top end. I changed it almost all the way to ODS and now I do like it much more - more highs, more sparcle, more overtones, more gain. If I would want to go for a fendery/marshally tone, I'd buy a Fender or Marshall (clone), not the Bluesmaster. Others have different preferences of course.

I have a Blues Master HRM 100w and I would recommend getting the OTS 100w for honky Dumble tones.
