70's 2nd gen 100W build

Post by jelle »

Hi guys,

Here's an old pic of a 70's ODS that I built. I don't think I ever shared this pic here. I really like this amp with my '64 strat through an Altec 417. Greg's ('53?) Les Paul conversion sounds even better with it!

The extra tube looks like an active d-lator. Look at pin 6, runs back to the power supply (CF plate maybe?

Thanks! Yes, Dumbleator. Actually, now that I think of it, I never hooked it up. I just loved it as is and started playing it. LOL!

It does look sharp indeed. Besides the onboard Dumbleator, is it a #124 or there about? (Please pardon my noobness.)

It is not a 124 type, it is a 2nd generation ODS.

why the "low" voltage e-caps for the g2, pi and pre nodes? I would at least use a 500V one for the G2 node.....

B+ is about 420V in this one, so it works out. But with a higher voltage, I agree that a 500V cap or a series config would be better.
