noob questions

Post by mat »

If I for some reason would like to make an HRM amp with PAB always on (without the switch) and no mid boost, would I just leave the whole tone section away and go trough the .002 cap (from V1a plate) to the 1MA volume pot ?

https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=1179

It cannot be this simple. Are there some parts of the tone section that should be left on its place ?

Sorry for the crazy questions

btw, on this schem I see two 22M resistors on the PAB switch. Should they be there considering this is the HRM model ?

No, Look at the Schematic, the mid control is still active even with the boost engaged. All the schematics that DON"T have the 22M resistors in the PAB are incorrect.

I don't quite understand those 22M resistors. My amp never had them,
can anyone enlighten me? Thanks!

I always thought they were just to quiet down the switching, but they may affect the tone slightly as well. My amp has them and there are no pops when it switches. My experience also is that the controls are still a bit active even with PAB on.

believe it or not, they actually reduce the boost a bit, and it seems more musical with them.
