Please help identify some resistors.....

Post by Guitarman18 »

I've just taken delivery of some resistors I bought from ebay and was hoping someone could help confirm what I have bought. The listing simply said 'Workshop closure sale', and showed a picture of a bunch of bags full of resistors.

I'm hoping I didn't waste my money, so any insight into what I've ended up with would be greatly appreciated.

As always, many thanks to all at TAG.

Cheers,

Paul.

They look like 1-2W Piher or Beyschlag (bottom) and Iskra or maybe Philips or Draloric, (tan ones). Probably 20-40 years old.

If so you have a pile of skookum high quality carbon films! Hope you can use the various values.

Thanks for the reply David. I was hoping that they were Iskra/Beyschlag and/or piher. They were listed as 2W resistors but I'm not too familiar with the distinguishing features of the 2 Watters, so I'm not exactly sure what to look out for. The up side is that I got 300 of them in most values from 1R to 10M for $30. The opposite was almost true when I bought some 1Watters from Italy!!!!

Thanks again,

Paul.

Jaw dropping! This kind of thing doesn't often happen to me, I was fully expecting to have spent money on total rubbish!

Only down side is that although there are lots of resistors there aren't many of each value required for a D-style build.

Cheers,

Paul.
