My Dumble Archive

Post by Rob Livesey »

Hi All,

I don't post very often, but here is one of the few.

Over the last year or two, particularly recently, there have been more and more Dumble's being documented and photographed. My archive of pics began life back in the old days when life was good and things were slow, but now I simply don't have the time to keep the archive up-to-date and some people here have made comments to this effect. I don't mind, I totally understand. To have one place which acurately documented every amp and was well maintained would be a great resource.

So, with this in mind I see the following options for my site:

1. I'm willing to zip up the entire contents of the site and provide it to someone else who can host it. Preferably someone who can maintain it better than I do. I would put an auto-forwarding link in the root of my site to the new hosting site.

2. We work a bit more together. I ask you all to look over my site, identify the missing info and pictures for any amps already there and for those not yet listed, and you fill in the gaps. You would send me zip files of amp pics & info, or even fully formed webpages with pics and info embedded, and I host it for you. This approach still requires my time, but not to the same extent as harvesting, formatting and the rest and it's something I'm willing to try. If it doesn't work out, I'll have to rethink.

3. The status quo. What's there is there and any additional amps that come along will be documented and hosted here and there by others.

What do you think?

Regards,
Rob.

That is a great offer Bob.

I hope whoever accepts this offer will make a commitment to maintain the site for an indefinite term.
It's such a great resource that it is important to keep the archive maintained for posterity.

I'd be willing to host it. You have an incredible site and I would love to be able to contribute to this forum and continue to carry the torch.

I'm over-hosted and under-utilized. I have a couple of domains, both of which, get very little traffic. Hosted with unlimited space and traffic, so it wouldn't be a problem.

Let me know!
