HRM = Hot Rubber Monkey or Hot Rodded Marshall. It refers to a second tone stack in the overdrive section. So the HRM architecture is

V1 - tone stack - clean volume (or input gain) - V2 - OD input trim - V3 - OD gain - V4 - OD level

This to me gives a clean crunch tone at lower gain settings and can scream at higher gain settings. Most people here use the preamp boost switch (PAB) which disables the tone stack in the clean channel. Then the sound goes towards a Marshall sound but is smoother.

Non-HRM means that there is no second tone stack, otherwise the architecture is the same, however, the circuit values are different. See the different schems in the files section. Non-HRM amps have way more midrange.

Good luck
Stephan
