Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
I am building a dumbleator now, and adding a 9V power tap for pedal convenience because I am putting it in an empty Ceriatone C-lator chassis I got from another tag member. I have the boards built but my question is about the power switches.
The holes in the faceplate are small - I haven't measured them yet - does anyone have a component ID for the power and standbys? All mine are the 5/8th diameter bore, I think. These are like 3/8 dia.
Also the fuse hole has two flats at 0 and 180. All my fuse holders have one flat so they don't fit. Sheesh, why is this always such a pita? I bought the chassis so for once I can built something easy, with everythign planned and of course, that doesn't happen!
I think this year the UPS guy is going to give ME a xmas present!

Usually those mini toggle switches are around 1/4".

Surf, I believe they are .280. I'll check when I get home.surfsup wrote:I am building a dumbleator now, and adding a 9V power tap for pedal convenience because I am putting it in an empty Ceriatone C-lator chassis I got from another tag member. Re: Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
Thanks guys! I will order up tonight or tomorrow then...Just need to make sure I don't forget anything first. I always get stung with "doh, I forgot that ONE thing..." and then I order up an extra $30 to make sure the $12 shipping is worth it.

I have two of these switches from mountainswitch, I assume these will be fine since the amp will draw about 1.25Amps max while running with only one 12ax7:
http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.asp ... ta1120+evx
• Rating: 6A/125VAC, 3A/250VAC
• Contact Resistance: 50mΩ max.
• Insulation Resistance: 100MΩ min. 500VDC
• Dielectric Strength: 1000VAC 1min.
• Electrical Life: 10,000 cycles

Re: Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
Specs look good to me. I wouldn't have a problem using those switches.

Anyone know the thread size for the four power supply bolts on the c-lator chassis? They are smaller than 4-40, i have nothing here to conpare to.

Do the holes line up with your PS board?
If so, I would just drill them out to whatever screw size you want to use.

Re: Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
Structo, these are stamped bolts in the chassis that stick up. I'd have to grind them off to get rid of them so I will just use them. I have a nut that fits but I have no other screws this size to test that nut with to know what thread size to search for to get four 1/2" standoffs. I'd use the ones that came iwth it but the standoffs are 1" tall which, on a 1.5" chassis, the filter caps won't fit! Stupid! So now it is another wasted trip to several hardware stores to see what this stupid thread is...
This C-lator chassis is the worst. Every thing has been a pain to figure out. None of my panel LEDs fit and mouser doesn't sort by panel mount diameter at all. The front panel is too thick for my pots (can't thread the nut on) and of course I gotta look up pot thread lengths on line as well. Ceriatone made this to fit one PT, their own. etc etc I'm too deep to make my own chassis at this point. Can you tell I'm a little frustrated?
...and I bought this thinking it would be a simple follow the numbers build. So much for that idea. This dumbleator better work well!

Surf, sorry I didn't get a chance to check that chassis last night. However, if you can wait I will check it tonight. FWIW, I purchased that other "blank" chassis, but haven't built it out yet. I'm going to need the same mounting hardware and could just send it to you.surfsup wrote:Structo, these are stamped bolts in the chassis that stick up. Re: Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
Okay, that was you? Sounds good. Nick from Ceriatone responded and thinks they are M3 metrics. I am trying to confirm and will go to the hardware store today anyway. I don't want to pay $10 shipping if I get this wrong. This is the LED (one of these two) that I'm getting. The hole looks like 5/16ths:
1 - 696-LXR4815USBD150 - 8.2mm Mount - LED for Clator cabinet - $5.50
1 - 749-MPC5HDW6 - 0.315" Mount - Bivar Panel Mount LED indicator - $2.25
I will get you my full gutshots when I have them ready as well.

Re: Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
Wow, that thing sounds like a pain in the ass.
Sorry you have to deal with that.
I ended up using a amp chassis for my D'lator because I just couldn't justify the price of the 1U rack mount chassis.

Re: Ceriatone Dumbleator Qs
Structo yes. I find this chassis to be a liitle too much on the non-standard side but I have my order in now at mouser. Of course, the chassis does indeed have four M3 mounts for the PS board. 3mm are quite uncommon, two true values and one home depot had no 3mm standoffs and only a few nuts and screws. Seems 4mm or larger is common. So mouser has the standoffs I need M3x0.5 15mm tall but they are warehoused so I gotta wait 10 days for them to arrive and ship.
So next update will be in two weeks at the earliest.
