D'Lator Questions

I am going to build one but I need a PT. Anybody know where to get one? And do I use the 8" or 13" chassis?

8 inch 1 rack space chassis.
The trick is where you mount the transformer.
Ceriatone uses a transformer that fits in a cutout in
rear of chassis. Martin's will fit inside a 1 space chassis I believe.

I use a 25mm tall toroid, mounted on a piece of 2mm steel, that's bolted to the chassis with 8 countersunk M3-screws. It's bulletproof, and very quiet. It's more work than Martin's PT, but that unit isn't available to me here in Europe.

I've made three of them now and the volts are spot-on. At 25 bucks (US) plus shipping you can only go so wrong. Plus there is some slop. The high voltage winding is 0-260/280 (through a FWBR) and the primary is dual 115v so you can go 230v in and have room to adjust the HV a bit by choosing which tap gets you closest to the B+ you want.

Nik's kit is reasonably priced, about $200 including shipping IIRC.
Good quality parts.
Just use the kit and review the D-Lator threads here for
corrections and tweaks.
Mine works well, and I like it even better with the changes
picked up here to make it more "correct".

Teleguy, I am about to start a C-Lator build using the rack chassis and Allenmey's PT. What changes are you referring to? I'd certainly like to be made aware of them. TIA!

I've taken a quick look at Nik's layout and some posts in the d files
section and I can't pick them out. It was a 18 mos ago when I built mine and I recall a couple of small things, but I didn't make any notes. It came up when I was putting in a series/parallel switch from this thread:
