Caps for agbamplifiers power supply boards

Post by mmmoser »

Does anyone have a part number (mouser, etc) for the radial caps that fit the spacing of the agb boards? I'm getting parts together and will use these boards for the first time for my power supply on a #183 build. Thanks in advance!

Xicon were the caps of choice, here's the Mouser replacements as the Xicon's have been classified end of life by Mouser. The lead spacing is 7.5mm, with the screens at 350V with the rest rated at 250V.

Great- thanks so much. I've not used these caps before. Hope they are good quality. I always had good luck with Xicon but never used Lelon. Possible they are made in the same factory anyways I suppose.

When my Xicon radials run out I will switch over to them. I also used Nichicons in that position as well. However, I have used the Lelon axials in 3 builds at the bias and relay supply positions. Although in every build that I've used the 47uf/160V(bias supply) they will cricket chirp every once in awhile. There's no performance issues though just a strange chirp ocassionally. I have switched over to the BC caps for the bias position, still using the Lelon in relay supply.

I seem to remember someone saying the Nichicon caps were very good.
Low ESR, impedance, long life.

For instance this cap, 8,000 hour life.
105C rated

Although it is more than twice as much as the Lelon.

What is the largest diameter that can fit on the AGB board?

That Nichicon is 18mm.

Agreed... I also like the low ESR Panasonics that mouser started carrying a few months back. You just need to make sure whatever you get is 7.5MM spacing.

Great, so 7mm is the magic number. Thanks!

I also had to watch the cap diameter even though it was 7.5mm spacing the caps diameter was too large so I reordered caps making sure I had it right the second time.
