70's ODS build started

Hi guys,

I started a 70's ODS build with a new chassis that resembles the 3rd generation amps. Waiting for parts..... time for a break.

Ebay. I do not remember the seller from the top of my head, it's been a while.

The resistors I got from a close friend, who gave me a lifetime supply of NOS metal films. The coax is old video coax from a yard sale. I figured to be a little thrifty on this first one, in the tradition of the original amps...

I'm trying to decide if I want old schumachers in this one or not...also 100 or 50W? I'll probably end up doing both a 50 and a 100w one anyway.

Oh, and Jon and I started a Small Special with last night. Pics later on when we progress a bit more.

wonderco_buy seems to keep those knobs in stock pretty good on eBay. The RN-113B type.

Jelle, do you think using the small white Teflon coax/ shielded cable we get from Apex Jr. is too low of capacitance to where it may impart some shrillness/ harshness in the top end?

I get 39pf/ ft when I measure it with my cap meter.

I'm hoping the white Apex coax will work, as that's what I'm using on my 3rd gen 50 Watt. It's beautiful wire (RG188). I guess I can change it out if need be.

Tom, AFAIR you'll find the specifications of the original coax cables that Alexander has used in the original 2nd and 3rd generation ODS amps in Tony's 2nd and 3rd generation layouts in the "Dumble Files" section of this forum.

And the speciafications of current 93 ohm (2nd generation) and 75 ohm (3rd generation) coax cables you'll find in the data sheets of the current cables.

Sorry...missed your post. These mobile phones with internet can be great but for some reason it marks messages as unread even when I have not read them. Must be part of the curse of the modern age, I guess.

To answer your question, I do not know what exact coax you mean. I have done tests with the different types of coax that I noticed others use plus some stuff I could easily get my hands on. I use small stuff too in some builds. What type do you mean?
