Quinn SDO-Reverb 183/102

Post by boldaslove6789 »

I've been working with Shad for a few months now passing back e-mails etc,. I wanted an amp with that had the grab and go factor. I needed something that would be versatile on the road, gig's, and in the studio and he delivered, in spades....

Spec's:

100w
NON-HRM 183/102 with EL34's
Built in 2 Tube Reverb
Built in Dumbleator
Switchable LNFB on V1 for 182 and 102 Voicing
2 Selectable Ftsw'able Boost's (either regular PAB or full tonestack lift)
Ftsw'able FET
Ftsw'able Effects Bypass (only bypasses the effect in loop)
Ftsw'able OD/clean Select

AFAIK the pwr trafo is a Mercury Mag Twin reverb pwr trafo, Plexi Output trafo.

Here's some clips that were thrown together today.

Wampler Faux tape echo in the Built in D-lator's loop

Ported D-style cab w/ a Celestion G1265 (8ohm) & an Eminence texas Heat (8ohm) @ 4ohms

Thanks for the clips, it's very nice sounding! There sure is a lot packed into that box. I saw a prior pic of the back and the reverb tank was fairly close to everything else. Do you get any extra noise with the reverb on at all? I'd almost expect something based on proximity but I'm just wondering. Nice!

I really liked the second part of the tele clip. The tone of the wood was really brought out.
Impressive amp, real nice.

Nice playing man. I dig the sound of that amp. I especially like the 102 voicing. I see you mentioned switching negative feedback on V1 for 102 and 183 voicing. Is that the only difference? Makes me want to make some changes to mine.

Sweet sounding amp Greg!

Nice chops as well.

What differences do you here between the two types of amp?

Superb! All I kept thinking during the clips was "Now where is he going to find a drummer and bass player to keep up with THAT".

Is that the tele that's on loan? I'd say your done with amps for a while and you need to start thinking about getting ahold of that tele for good. Sounds fantastic.

Nice work Shad, lots of useful real world features and cool ideas without loosing any mojo along the way, suits Greg to a -T.

Like this a lot Greg! For me the 102 sounds the nuts, but I also like the 183.
The Tele is just awesome too, love your chops, keep on going mate :D

Great set of switching options too!

Nah the Verb is super quiet, and very lush, but not overly bouncy, just enough but with the ability to get a bit splashy/WET.

Yes the rest of the amp is of the 183 non-molecular, just the added NFB loop switch on V1.

The 183 setting blooms a bit faster, feeds back a bit faster, adds a little bit more volume.

The amps are so similar it's hard to tell on just clips.

Greg, so you like the short plate amperex in the d'lator? I was always under the impression that long plates were the choice in the d'lator.
