59 Fender Bassman with Dumble La Tostada mod
I have a 1959 Fender Bassman Re issue that has been Modded by A. Dumble. It has his La Tostada mod/voicing done to it. Just wondering if anyone else out here has one of these, and would like to hear your thoughts. I LOVE mine, and is now my Best sounding amp I own. I do run some pedals in front of it to make her come alive for the Rock stuff. Any thoughts on the best pedals to use with this amp would be appriciated also. I run this head through a Fender Tonemaster 412 with Vintage 30's wired at 4 ohms. At this point I have retired my Marshalls, Soldanos, and other amps. Just wish I could have a Great effects loop installed.

Johnny does your amp have Send and Return jacks on the back?

I'm a little curious and have a few questions.
I'd imagine HAD would be difficult to contact, how did you pull that off?
Why did you want the mod and what are the differences in tone between the standard amp and the amp with the HAD mod?
Have you changed any other parts in the amp such as speakers and NOS valves?

The 59 Bassman reissue is a combo amp, is it not?

I will try to post some pics soon. Nope there are not any send and returns on this amp. It's pretty much a Stock 59 Bassman chasis that was Dumbleized, then a God Ugly cabnit made for it. I did some work for a Good buddy of mine and he gave me this amp. I really do not know a whole lot about it other then Mr Dumble did do his magic on it. It even has his lable on the inside.

Sounds similar to Landau's Slide winder. (Dumble Modded tweed bandmaster in a headcase)

The Chasis was removed from the origional combo format, Modified then installed into a newly constructed Birch pine cabnit and covered with a purple tolex and white piping. It is a top mounted chasis, just as you would see it on a Bassman. I'm not to wild about that. My plan is to have it converted to be mounted Marshall style someday. I know it can be done, just takes a bit of tweaking of the chasis. I'll Love it just the way it is for now though.

That's cool! It would be nice to see some photos of it. The 59 Bassman reissue is a PCB amp. Did he gut it or just rework the existing PCB? What's the "La Tostada" modification/voicing sound like? Sounds like a Taco Bell menu item.

Yep, photos would be great.

Here are a couple of shots of my Dumbleized 1959 Bassman. I will not show any close ups of the chasis mods out of respect of A. Dumbles request. Just know this amp sounds like GOD!

Glad it sounds like God because it is UGLY AS SIN
You should secure the transformer with the 3rd bolt normally securing the transformer to the cabinet. That's a lot of weight for two screws. On mine, I removed the weak bracket and attached a piece of angle iron to the transformer by backing the screw out and mounted it proper. Pictured below is the stock way they secure the transformer on the reissue.
As for the effects loop, if it's really modified by dumble, leave it alone. That guy is so elusive, anything he touches suddenly goes up in value.
Besides, there isn't much room in there for much more.

+1 on the looks. God may have blessed the interior, but he has completely forsaken the exterior.
I am guessing that the pics will miss the mark on this forum.
