Richard has some nice pieces.

A few nice early Strats and Gibsons.

Hopefully the sale will go to a good cause.

Does Gere even play guitar? Man, that is quite a collection. I wonder if any of them are broken in...

Makes me wonder whether there exists any coincidence that Richard Gere was featured in a recent (current?) issue of Guitar Aficionado that I browsed in a recent trip through the airport magazine stand.

That's a lot of Gere! Sorry.

Those auction estimates look a bit optmistic. I'd have a hard time spening that kind of $ on an instrument that I couldn't play first.

With a Bigsby?!

I wouldn't pay $40,000 for that.

These guitars are interesting but none of them scream amazing I can't live without them. Factor in the Pre economic fall out top dollar pricing. The nice part about this sort of sale is that if they sell for these prices it will increase the insurance values for anyone with a similar instrument since you can prove going rates have gone up. Wonder how that will reflect on the premium payments?

We've seen the peak in prices. The only demographic that could keep all but the highest-end pieces in demand just got their collective underwear pulled over their head and tied in a knot. We've already watched Japan disgorge what they accumulated in their glory days and the new economic powers won't have the same mojo association. A classic bubble.

Of course, I do my best to compromise rare amp values by rolling my own :)
