Hi!

No, that is a Clavinet D6 (as used by Stevie Wonder, albeit he used a Clavinet I for Superstitious) and it is all mechanical.

The metal handle is a very rare aftermarket mod to the Clavinet that allows one to rais the pitch of the strings. With the Clav and the "pitch bender" you can get really close to a guitar with keys.

In the clavinet there are essentially strings that are "plucked" by little rubber grommets on the keys.
