Fargen Ebay transformer offer?

Post by Luthierwnc »

For at least a couple months I have seen a series of auctions by Fargenamps offering sets of transformers for assorted Fender and Marshall amps. The picture shows the same four Mercury Magnetics trannies in all the ads. In the one for a Fender Twin Reverb, there is a buy-it-now price of $199 for the set.

IIRC, you can't even get a MM Twin output transformer for two hundred bucks -- much less the PT, RT and choke plus only $16 to ship it. The description is pretty scanty and the impedance is wrong. I've emailed them twice to get more information and never heard back.

What do you think is going on? Thanks, sh

I believe if you read all the information closely, it's only for the OT and choke. Read the part about European voltages about halfway down.

Thanks -- still getting used to the window within the window. Still doesn't explain an 8 ohm secondary on a Twin, though. sh

I got a set of these for a champ 600 from them a while back. Sure beat the 500 mercury wanted at street price for the pt, ot, and choke. But yeah no pt. Somone on here is bound to get there best dealer pricing and
be able to give you a deal though. We could all figure on doing group
buys every six months or so as well if everyone wanted to.

IMO, the description is at best, not very clear. When I think of a transformer set for a Twin, I think of a PT, OT and choke.
