Hi Guys,
There is an Electro Voice SP10 cheap on Ebay. It looks a lot like an SRO except it has a brown paint job and a chromed frame. It also has a wizzer cone. Even with a recone it could come in on budget. Does anybody know if this is basically the same hardware as the coffee-can SRO?
Thanks, Skip

Re: EV SP10?
TBH a link would help. I can't find the auction or any info on the speaker you mentioned. You could post it under the guise that none of us will bid on it but I can only say that I won't bid on it, who knows what others will do..
From the few pics I can find on google this speaker looks nothing like an SRO on the magnet side..

Good sounding speaker, but if I remember correctly the SP series will only handle around 25 watts, 20 for the SP-B. I have an SP-B with the whizzer in my leslie cab at the moment.
The SP-B also has a 2" voice coil, as opposed to the 2.5" of the SP/SRO, magnet weights are the same at @ 3 lbs. for SP/SRO. This is all for the 12" speaker, I'm not sure they even made a 10 back then. Even if they did, a 10" recone may be harder to come across than a 12".
I used to have 2x 4-10 cabinets with the 10" EVM's similar to the 12L and those were my favorite cabinets ever (but VERY heavy).

Re: EV SP10?
I misspoke; it was an SP12. I say was because somebody picked it off already. The supply of 12" SRO's has gotten thinner lately -- or they list at a price that someone is hoping to put their kids through school.
Thanks, sh
