3rd gen iron
Looking to start ordering for a summer project
a 3rd gen style build based on Tonys info
wondering if this new PT from MC would do, opposed to the older non 5v tap, and using the 5v tap for relays...also less ma's 200 instead of 240
PT http://www.classictone.net/40-18073.pdf
not sure what the SS wire is for?
OT http://www.magneticcomponents.net/40-18 ... _Stock.pdf OT has M6 steel
PT is around $25 more..not sure if there would be any pros/cons
any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks
Darin

I have a mess (like 25) of NOS PT from the 70's Fender 2 6L6 amps as seen in:
http://www.webphix.com/schematic%20heav ... tr_rev.pdf
Kind of perfect for the 70's builds.
I have the export version with the multitap primaries. It's the one on the left in the pictures.
If there's enough interest I'll put them up for sale.

I have one too, from dreric. They are good PTs. However note thay are designed for driving a full wave bridge rectifier, not a conventional full wave rectifier. They won't give you the voltage you need unless you use a bridge rectifier.

I went with 40-18005 PT, 48-18001 OT (4/8/16), 40-18003 choke and found the F-313X at Onlinecomponents.com.

Re: 3rd gen iron
I got them from an older amp repair guy in the SF bay area, I forget his name. He got from Fender when they were closing amp manufacturing in Fullerton in the early 80's. There are the real (fender) Schumachers. Just before the red knob period.dcribbs1412 wrote:Nice dreric

He sat on the for years and I've sat on them for years, thinking about putting them up for sale.

Re: 3rd gen iron
Darin the SS wire is the shield wire for the transformer.
It goes to chassis ground.
