Do the NC and NO (and COM) contacts all have DC paths to GND in all relay positions? A large value (10M) can be added if you find one in need.

If this is a change in behavior and the other solutions mentioned don't work, I've had similar symptoms that I traced to a leaky coupling cap.

Ok olks i need help with this one, im pretty sure its the relay board at fault but Nik at ceriatone insists that becuse i failed to use his trannies that is where the problem lies, i,m looking at using a standard 12 v dpdt relay rather that the board suppiled, can anyone see a obvious problem that i have missed

You really need to supply more information before you can hope to get much more than guesses. If you want a diagnostic, you need to tell things like what changed (did it pop before, or is this brand new?), and what you changed (did you modify something, start using new relays, or what?).

the amp worked perfectly , it literally appered between one day and the next. The relays switch over ok, all the conections apper to be solid, ive redone all my hook up points and am left with the same problem

This has been mentioned in an earlier post.

The first thing, check if you have any DC on the relay contacts in both clean and overdrive. You may have a leaky de coupling cap rather than a faulty relay circuit.

I have 12v dc across the relay coil

You should have on the relay coil.

you need to measure from ground to each relay contact this is with the relay operated and turned off, that is in clean and OD modes.

You should nave no dc present, may be just a few millivolts.

Which PT did you use that Nik is saying could be the problem?
I am curious because my next build wont be be using Nik's trannies!

Thanks

Assuming you have diodes across the relay coils to help shunt away the voltage generated when the magnetic field collapses? Otherwise you should have been popping from the start. Given what you say, again I'd suggest that you start looking for a leaky coupling cap by measuring for DC voltage where there shouldn't be any.

Hammond trannies through out which appartly according to Nik are totally wrong and sub standard in comparison to his, to be honest i will not be dealing with ceriatone in any form after the attitude i have been given

Yeah I've said nothing but good things about Ceriatone since I got my first amp build from them( OTS pack 2 ). The second I decided to do a 2550 pack 1 using MC iron and Nik actually helped me pick the correct trannie because the first one I almost bought was not quite correct. Turned out very well!
Dont know whats going on over there but I just contacted him regarding a HRM build in which I just want the board and chassis only and plan on sourcing most everything else. Well along with the order I asked if he could also include a few of the minor parts that could turn out to be a PITA to find .
He got back to me that he does not do custom orders anymore.
Normally I would not have been bothered but on the damn website it specifically says:

We offer PTP boards, chassis, kits, and full working chassis. No order is too small for us, and we let you customize however way you want.

If you don't see it, we can do it!

Well, since i have found that it will not be so hard to find all the other little parts so I will probably get the HRM board and chassis only and put the rest together myself.

I suggest you go to the C-tone site and leave a review!
