Ideas to solve a chasiss problem

Post by paisley_tele »

I got a peavey triump120 and I'm using for a two rock build but as you can see in the pics the preamp tube would be right under the board. Would that create a issue or would it be fine?

Not a problem. I do that in my Angelsbreath and SSS builds.

Looks like a cost effective approach to getting a decent chassis and iron. Have fun! :D

I also have an old Peavey Triumph 120, and will be watching this thread with great interest! I pulled it out of storage recently with the idea of morphing it into a different circuit.

You can have your board over the sockets but lead dress is difficult like that.

If it's only one tube you have to have under the main board, make it the reverb driver (only 3 leads and one of them direct from the transformer).

You negleted to also say that you probably cut holes in the boards to drop the wires dewn to the sockets. At least that is what Alexander did on the real ones.

That's not so bad. At least they used double-sided PCB so you can pull parts out without having to rip out the board.

Any ideas what drill to use for the tube holes?
Wouldn't want to use my step drills because I think they would rapidly become blunt from the glass fibers in the FR4.
