Sustain level of different strings

I've been using a ceriatone OTS for gigs, jams, rehearsal, and bedroom practicing for the last year. I still find new kinds of responses with this amp. However, I seem to be stuck in one particular mode that I haven't been able to break out of yet. That is when I have a very desirable, singing sustained sound in the higher notes of the top 2 strings, but too much gainy almost steady-state sustain on the 5th and 6th strings. I'm using an epi dot with 57 HBs, varitone, and coil splitter. The problem is more pronounced in double-coil mode. Paths to consider in my quest to tame the lower two strings?

reduce the V1b coupling cap from .05 to a .02, if that sounds like it's going in the right direction but not enough, change the V1B bypass cap from 5uF to 1uF. Alternatively, if the amp is "wooly" with your humbuckers in clean mode, instead of the V1b bypass change the v1A bypass cap to a 1uF.

he`s prob on his TENTH amp build of the day, low on sleep, too much coffee, phones ringing off the hook, the yard needs mowing, the car`s pass inspection date, and the dimmer on the column has ta be changed, there`s a funeral to go to, ahh but LIFE IS GOOD!
