Where to find twin OT mounting brackets

Post by boldaslove6789 »

I'm doing a Bassman 100 to ODS conversion without the OD {two seperate era preamps (classic & skyliner) into a BM pwr amp with a tube loop  } and the original trafo mounts are bent up. Anybody know where I can find brackets for vertical mounting a Twin reverb OT? Looked all over, considered making my own out of alum.

Aluminum will fracture when you bend it. Use ½” wide steel stock. I used 01 tool steel on this Dagnell C1998 OPT. The reason for mounting the Dagnell on its side was clearance issues, The Dagnell is ½” taller than most Marshall Style and Marshall OPT. But it sounds cleaner than any iron I have used so far.
EVH was on to something with his famous Marshall #12000 series that used a Dagnell C1998.
Sorry to get off topic aluminum may be fine with a fender OPT it doesn’t weigh 11 pounds.
Steel is easy to work with; pig iron at the hardware store should work fine.
If you go with aluminum use a cobalt drill bit and lemon pledge spray wax for a lubricant.

Have fun, Steve.

Here are some pre-made brackets, but this may not fit your transformer. Otherwise you will have to make some from metal stock.

Like others said I used angle brackets from hardware store. This picture is a JTM45 tranny mounted with hardware brackets.

Mark, you cannot just throw something like that out there and walk away - inquiring minds NEED to know...

What is it?

Curious,

George

P.S. Thanks!

That is my Root 66 I built a long time ago, don't you remember? :)

I used JTM 45 iron so it's not ultra linear OT like Dr Z used but the amp sounds so I didn't want to get the right ones for it. Nice mellow tone running KT66.
