Custom Power Transformers Are In & Ready To Ship

Post by jborders5 »

Hi All -

I finally received a small run of custom power transformers from Heyboer. They are based on a Blackface Twin with an increased 6.3V @ 7.5A filament supply to accommodate optional El34s as well as an added 6.3V @ 500mA secondary for relays. I ordered a few extra and can offer them for a little less than originally listed. They are now priced at $110.00 each plus shipping. Additional specifications, wiring diagram & link to order can be found here: http://agbamplifiers.com/parts/transformers.html . Please note there are only 6 available & PayPal will not oversell the product. If you can complete the transaction, you're guaranteed a transformer. I do not plan on ordering another run anytime soon. The transformer fits any standard Fender Twin opening as well as the CE chassis. Thanks.

Nice!
I wish I could have gotten one of these when I built my amp.

Do you know what the B+ will be on the plates with this PT?

I come up with around 475v.

Based on the very similar ones I've been ordering at 340/345, I'm predicting about 448-455V under load biased around typical D figures. A tad highter if the line voltage is closer to 124VAC.

Specs say 120 volt only. He's not shipping out of the US anyway. I wonder if hammond can do a custom wind? They do offer M6 upgrades on their fender transformers.

If I was to go custom on any transformers I think I would give Heyboer my business.

I don't think I have ever heard one bad thing about a custom wind from them.
Several forum members regularly have them wind transformers to their specs.

I am not slamming Hammond, it's simply that I have never heard of them custom winding anything.

Sorry, I only had them wind a single primary to keep costs down. The other issue would be shipping as it would cost $44.00 to ship them to most international destinations. The transformers weigh over 12 pounds each and the stack height is taller than a standard twin pt to accommodate the larger gauge wire for the filament winding.

I agree Heyboer is the way to go for custom transformers. They wind small quantity orders and are pretty easy to work with. I was quoted around $140.00 per unit for a single piece run of the transformer I'm selling.

Try this place in the Netherlands. I used to get my custom one offs from him, even 200W Marshall Major ones!

Hope this helps,
