M6?
I'm thinking of doing a 2x6l6 Dumble inspired amp this winter and was wondering what type of OT to get. Looking at Magnetic Components, they offer a standard Super Reverb type OT and an M6 version of the same OT. Any opinions/advice? I probably should try both, but thought it might be good to get some opinions. Thanks!

Re: M6?
M6 should be cleaner, more headroom. More suited to Dumble circuits I think.
How and why that is I am not competent to say. If you understand transformers that way you are a Giant Earth Brain. There are a few on this forum that qualify to put GEB after their names.

Re: M6?
Transformers with higher quality M6 (which is a reference to how well the grain is aligned in the ferromagnetic material) will have a higher flux density and therefore lower eddy current losses. This translates to a later saturation and a wider bandwidth for a given power level. If you're looking for that transformer saturation-limited sound ala early Fenders and cheapo amps than I'd say go with the non-M6 guy. But for a Dumble, I'd always choose the higher quality transformer when possible.
Can I add GEB to my name?

Re: M6?
I recently upgraded my Ceriatone 50w HRM with Magnetic Components OT #40-18001 and Choke #40-18003.
I don't know what the non M6 tranny sounds like, but I am impressed in what turned out to be a huge increase in tone.
I can now hear Dumbleish tones from my amp that were not there before, well worth the money.
