I wonder what the date is for that interview.

He mentions the price is high at $1,332.00

I met Rick Vito at the Nashville amp show. He was telling me that he used to own a Dumble Overdrive Reverb.
I noticed at the end of this article he mentioned that he missed the amp not having reverb but that it could be ordered with it as an option.
Guess he did just that.
As a side note, he said he liked my "Texas Blues" amp, but it was to expensive!!!

Dunno!!..I just found it floating out on the web..I just wish the review could have gone a bit deeper..I Thought Ricks first exposure to Dumbles was in Jackson's studio while doing the Laywer in Love sessions..According to him..

I e-mailed Rick and asked him to give us some background.
This is what he said:


Hi,
I can't log into this site, but here is what I remember about it.
It was MI (Musicians Industry) magazine as I recall around 1982-3, and
Howard (Alexander now) asked me to do the review. I was borrowing a 50W
Overdrive Special combo from him at the time. Not too many people knew
about them then. I later received a 100W OD w. Reverb piggy back amp as a
gift from Jackson Browne, as he had a bunch of them and I was working with
him on the record that became "Lawyers In Love" and the single,
"Somebody's Baby." This was the amp I used also on Bob Seger's "Like A
Rock." Later I also bought a 100W combo from someone for $1,000 when I
first joined Fleetwood Mac in 1987, so I got into them very cheaply. Great
amp then and now, but the prices have gotten crazy. Hope that helps.

Hi Structo,

Dumble PRICE LIST May 15, 1978:

OVERDRIVE AMPLIFIERS COMBINED WITH 12-INCH, ALTEC SPEAKER:

OD-50 WATT........$1,342.00 (ALTEC).....$1.242.00 (-EV-)

The two prices are written by hand in my copy, so probably updated at a point after May 1978. Perhaps he used this 1978 Price List still for some time like you see in the early eighties catalogue with pictures of #075 and a blackface transition generation classic ODS on Rob Livesey's site ("Catalogues") http://www.roblivesey.com/dumble/. This catalogue is already from after his move to North Hollywood (a small card is added with the new address) but all the printed sheets still display the Santa Cruz address.

And Rick Vito obviously remembers likewise (early eighties).
