I have Weissenborn coming today and was wondering if anyone has experience using their D style amp with acoustics, especially with the FET input as it was originaly/rumored to be designed?
Right off the bat, let me say I don't care very much for Ben Harper's tone, but I've heard David Lindley sound good and there's a clip of the guy from nickle Creek playing his mandolin through Kimmock's 100 watter that sounded really nice in a band setting (looked like he was on the normal input though).
What about pick-ups, Piezo, etc. Seems like all the weissenborn guys like the sunrise, but are they using it with the sunrise pre-amp? I think Lindley is using a roland JC120 with his nowdays and not the SSS for all his acoustic stuff? I was thinking of trying the EMG ACS set-up.
Anybody mess with this stuff? It would be nice to get down to a single (I know, I know) amp set-up to do it all. Seems like the step filters and clean power of the SSS and dumbleland amps might be the way to go here?
