I think most get theirs from www.apexjr.com . I have some of his and some I got from Funk. Funk's is lower capacitance than Apex Jr.'s I have, but similar teflon insulation and larger dia. conductor.

Capacitance per ft does not seem to be as important as gauge of conductor, in a coax cable in these applications, at least the pro builders seem to think so. Not sure why, never seen an explanation of that. 22 ga. min, some like 20 ga. Above that it gets hard to bend. Some like 100% aluminum foil shield, others tight plated copper weave.

One thing, teflon insulation between conductor and shield makes life much easier at soldering time.

David I think I have an explanation. low cap cables dont seem to be too important because runs are often short and the high end attentuation may not be a bad thing. Alot of D style amp owners will often up the snubbers or put a high pf patch cable in the FX loop to smooth out the highs a bit. So assuming the amp needs it, it can be a good thing to use high pf cables. Higher gauge IMO is always better as well, i think the low resistance of conections is part of the Dumble magic. Thicker wires and proper component/board placement and soldering techniques are used for this reason and it does seem to have affect on amp tone.

For my personal amps i use sheilded silver coated copper wire (braided alum) IMO aluminum sheilding is superior because it sheilds better against florecent lights and RF. And it's cheaper, copper conducts better but for grounding and shielding i doubt 1ohm every 10 feet will make a difference.
It's true i've lost my marbles and i cant remember where i put them

Question in regard to this topic:

Why not simlpy use the same kind of shielded cable Alexander used?

Is it not known what he did use or are shielded cables like these - or at least very similar in all specs - no longer available, or are there other reasons, why you not just take these?

Cheers,

Max
