Hi guys,
I'm embarking on a 100-watt HRM build. I used to build my own chassis' but this time I need to go out to a pro. There will be some non-standardized holes. Can anyone recommend a fabricator who can work off a CAD drawing or pre-marked aluminum? I expect it to be costly but I'm not doing this often enough now that multiples make sense.
Thanks, Skip

Re: need 1-off chassis source
A while ago I ordered from Nik at Ceriatone.
I sent an ACAD file and received the laser cut chassis within about 2 weeks.
IIRC it was about US$ 60 plus shipment.
No custom face plates though, at least not for a single chassis.
Peace,
Markus

What if you don't own AutoCAD? Will he accept other formats, like Visio or Corel?markusw wrote:A while ago I ordered from Nik at Ceriatone.

I think Nik only accepts ACAD files but to be on the safe side better ask him.
As far as I remember I did the layout in Visio, exported it as a ACAD file and then finally checked it within ACAD.

Thanks! I don't actually have a CAD program but I'll see what I can do. sh

And it came out ok?markusw wrote:I think Nik only accepts ACAD files but to be on the safe side better ask him.

Fortunately, no issues at all.Bob-I wrote: And it came out ok?
I just exported the chassis dimensions and holes.
Re: need 1-off chassis source
Just found this at http://www.ceriatone.com/tlbrBorderSub/customOrder.htm
"a) Custom Chassis
A drawing, preferably in Autocad (dwg extension, saved to R2000 format) be used. We cannot accept drawings made in graphic programs, and then saved as dwg, as nor all vector info are carried in the drawing. Dxf type files, if we can open it, will be fine.
If not, a sketch of the chassis (even hand drawn) will be fine. However, all dimension info must be provided, including co-ordinates of holes and objects.
For a sample of how the drawing should be done, please view the sample file below.
Inside the drawing, please specify bending directions, as well as material type and thickness needed. Finish type and color should also be specified. "
Seems I was wrong in that Nik only accepts ACAD files. Sorry
