Two Sunday afternoon Bludo Music Man 6L6 Skyline clips

Post by dogears »

High Plate, Skyline Stack. Big ass bright cap on master. Loopalator and special cables. A little verb and delay added in mix. ANOS RCA in loopalator. A little clearer than the JJ I had in there. Amp has JJ ECC83S in all three slots. CSA on bridge humbucker.

G1265 speakers, multimiced with SM57 and R121 ribbon.

http://scottlernermusic.com/Bludo/Bludo ... Arca-b.mp3 (done after listening to A, I made adjustments to mic positions)

Pardon clams.... Just a couple quicky takes. More coming.

Both clips sounded great! Clip A sounded a bit "boomier" i suspect this was because of the JJ's which in my experience have a bit boomier bass response than some of the tubes im used to (ie. tungsol RI)
It's true i've lost my marbles and i cant remember where i put them

Great tones as always Scott!

You don't say if you are canvassing for opinions but I'm going to stick my neck out anyway and say that I prefer the second clip's tones more, they seem 'less stiff'. It could be a change in mic placement though or settings or simply the area of the neck?

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks Paul. Yeah, clip B was much better for me! I adjusted things a little after listening to clip A. I moved the mic a little, and also changed the blend between the SM57 and R121.

Thanks!! Comments are definately wlecome....

Awesome! My next two builds are a 50W old timer (#13 or lower) and a MusicMan 700V 100W.

Love that 700V sound! What power tubes are in there? Is that Mojotone/Heyboer iron or original Music Man iron or Custom Funk iron?

I love the top end bloom of the 2nd clip. Nice playing, as always. 8)

Nice!! At home I liked B better but at work I like A better. Seems like the upper mids are clearer on A. I see you are running it with the bludolater but is it going through the rest of the rack as well? Great playing as always......clams my a## :-)
