Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
I am trying to finalize the relay power board.
I have an order on standby at mouser and would like to complete it with those missing pieces.
Can anyone point me towards a transformer that would fit 6v or 12v relays?
I am planning to use three and I can't find a transformer that would fit the profile for under 22$..
Edited :
I have found this transformer :

Opinions ?
Thanks for your help!

That depends on how many relays you need etc. Just make sure to look at the datasheets to see how much current each relay uses and the power regulator needs etc, and so long as it's under .6A you should be golden. That one is also 120/240 capable which is nice.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
As I am still waiting for some PS Caps, I thought it would be time to finalize the Front and Back plates.
I thought I could etch the aluminum and have a nice raw effect, but I need to find a shop where I can order those blank aluminum plates.
I can drill them myself although the IEC cut out might be a real challenge. Any advice fellow amp builders?
Let me know what you think!

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Received the missing caps. So boards are now completed and soldered. I miss turrets to finish the bias/rectifier board so need to order some...
What should I use to remove the residue from the solder? BTW, I change solder and baught some Kester.. what a difference it made! I don't need to heat up my iron as much for the solder to melt, a real pleasure to work with!
Will begin to play with cables and routing for the power section.

Looking great! Denatured alcohol is good for removing solder flux.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Had a few hours this weekend to move along with my build. Having a lot of fun doing it!
I realized I made mistake with the shielded cable going to the volume pot instead of out of the volume pot. Will correct it tonight.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Wired the tube/solid state rectifier switch, as well as the bias for the power tubes.
Having fun!

Hi Fred. Looks great! Who did you get to make your faceplates? They came our really nice.

Hi Guy,
I order from Steve Banks at indcom graphic :
https://indcom.graphics/
Great guy, they engrave plastic (my first faceplates), they dye on aluminum (the one on my current build). Fair pricing, fast turnover and great customer servicing.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Had time to work on the project this weekend.
Did wire the power tubes and FX loop. I installed the power transformer (old '66 super reverb) and connected bias supply and HT rectifier bridge. Just to be sure, I connect the HT voltage CT to the ground. And I did as well with the 5V CT.
I think I have to disconnect from the ground that tube rectifier CT right?
I tested heaters, and voltages are fine.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Is your power supply schematic as shown here: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 08#p392108 ? From the photos you are wiring in a vacuum rectifier option. Is there really a center tap on the 5VAC winding? That would be unusual on a Fender PT. I would expect a Red/Yel HT CT, and a Green/Yel filament CT, both of which should be grounded.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Martin, yes you are right. I am planning running the amp with a hybrid setup : tube or diode rectification via a switch.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
I see the Red/Yel HT CT, which you grounded, but I don't know what to make of that Orange colored wire. Maybe lift that from ground and see it it has continuity to any other winding. If not, it could be a shield, which should be grounded. If it's not a 6.3V filament CT, you will need the 2x 100R filament ground reference.

Re: UltraPhonix with a few twists
Took a pic of the actual wires:
2 black primary wires
2 green heaters wires 6.6v
2 yellow rect heaters 5.2v
2 red HT 713v
1 red & blue 50v bias tap
1 red and yellow HT CT
1 orange Primary ground?
@Martin, I will check continuity tonight!
