Mr. Dumble was a very clever man from what I have seen in his amps. There are some basic good schematics to start from, and then the customizing should begin. Design it around your ears and what you enjoy, and forget about recordings, as they will never allow a true impression of the tone. You have to play and listen to a Dumble.
A Dumble is very much alive and highly sensitive amp.

Thanks for the compliment. Whenever you are in Boston, contact me and you can play your heart out w/ my amp.

Hi Paul (sorry for calling you Mark...),

If I get out there, I will definately look you up. I think the fingers are a lot of the equation as well as the ears. The sensitivity of the amp (to my way of thinking) can only be measured by the interaction between the ears and the fingers when playing the amp.

Gary,

You are absolutely correct about the player. Also note, that the Dumble will not hide anything. If you know how to tame the amp, it will make you sound like a star. I have had folks who own Fuchs and Two Rock amps, play the Dumble, learn quickly how unpolished they play, and how unforgiving the amp can be. It is amazing how his design is so highly sensitve and not harsh to the ears.
