Thanks
those are NTE 1/2 w. metal film. The 2 brownish red caps are NTE.
Used according to 183 layout.

that's a CE chassis. Very nice chassis indeed.

After playing the amp for awhile now I'm finding something strange with the rock/jazz switch. When I put the switch in the jazz position, it is actually just going into PAB. I get the same result with the switch in the "rock" position and the PAB engaged on the foot pedal.. I followed the #183 layout wiring.
I don't know if the layout is incorrect or what.
has any other #183 builders noticed this?

What type of switch did you use? On-On, On-off-On or On-On-On?

I used an On On. I thought that was what it was supposed to be.

It does look good! Thanx for sharing.

I have Jason's PS boards too, AND I have a pair of those exact Nichicon 330uF/400V/105 deg C caps. Do you find the PS is tight enough with ~165 uF (maybe 150) on the 4 power tubes? I say maybe 150 because mine check out at 300 uF each, not 330.

Yes David, I find the PS to be tight.
When you say "it does look good "do you mean the layout, or the ON ON switch?

Chip, on your PAB switch the side of the switch that connects to the bass pot needs to connect to the side of the r/j switch with the 100k resistor going to the treble pot. Sounds like you just need to switch the two wires going to the common on the r/j switch side to side. This is providing everything else is wired correctly on the switches.
I just went and looked at those layouts, wire it like the 102 RF layout.

Thanx Chip, I'll use the same plate caps you did. I'll be using a quad of Mesa STR-415 (Sylvania 7581A) at about 500V.

I was referring to your layout and workmanship, not the switch wiring.

Chip the only reason to use a three position on-off-on for the Rock/ Jazz switch is for the middle position for PAB.
This just simply allows a front panel switch to be able to turn on PAB.
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!
