I'm a couple thousand miles too far east to make the D-fest, but a clip or two would really be awesome!

Jim is doing this out of the goodness of his heart, and I for one really appreciate the opportunity to audition these different flavors of some of the best speakers I've paired up with my amp. I think some folks will be pleasantly surprised. The Scumnico I already own will also be available, and is also a really nice match.Southbay Ampworks wrote:Yep, the J75-LHDC and H75-LHDC shipped out to you today, George. Let me know when they get there, sir! These two already had the FBI (full break in) service done to them.greiswig wrote:Another thing: Jim Seavall is sending up a couple of other speakers for us to try out: the J75 and H75 versions of the G12-65.
Thanks again, Jim!

Is there someone attending who can bring some recording gear? I've got one '57 mic and a preamplifier, and I could get audio but not video.

This is shaping up great! Unfortunately I have no recording gear.
Re: Portland Dumble-fest - Mar 20, 2011!
I'm trying to coordinate the trip. Things are way crazy at home AND work. I've got a few amps and cabs I can bring if it works out. Currently, I think all the cabs have 12-65's in them - 2x12, 1x12 and 1x12 combo....
I have a Zoom Q3 I can bring. The video isn't awesome but the audio is pretty good and it's very easy to use. If I can't make it I would be more than happy to ship it down to Tom so you guys could use it.

Getting closer! I'm looking forward to this. I tried out the speakers Jim Seavall sent for a bit. I already liked the M75-LDHC pretty well, as well as the Scumnico. But the J75 version may turn out to be my favorite of the bunch. It is fascinating to try different versions of the same basic speaker, enabling you to fine-tune your sound and feel. So we have the M75, J75, and H75 all available in the LDHC configuration. Really cool!
Really looking forward to hearing some different amps and cabinets, though! As we get closer, I'd like to get a role call here for who's coming and where you're coming from. Part of this would be to help with carpooling for some folks who might not be able to make it otherwise, so if you're willing and have space, let me know. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post publicly. (I'm ashamed of my car, too.)

Regret I am going to have to cancel out. I am going to be out of town the entire week before, don't get home till about midnite Friday, would not be too popular leaving again Sunday morning!
I was really looking forward to it. I even ordered a spiffy new snakeskin head for my '70s ODS for the occasion! Will post a pic when it comes in soon.
I'm sure it will be a great success. Assuming there will be a second meeting, I'm in for that one. Maybe we could have that one in Seattle?

I'm still in. Can carpool from Seattle or points south

Sorry to hear that, David...you'll be missed. But it sounds like you've got your priorities right! (family, I mean, not the snakeskin)

Roll call
Hi,
I'd like to get an RSVP from those of you who are planning attending the Dumblefest in Beaverton (Portland), OR on Feb. 20th? If you're not comfortable posting, just PM me.
We've had a couple of the original interested people say they might not be able to attend, and I want to make sure we have a quorum.

Re: Roll call
Allrighty, then! Well, I've had a few key players have conflicts come up for Feb 20. Then I ask for an RSVP, and nobody else RSVP's. I fully expect to have 25-40% attrition when the actual date arrives, but if I start getting close to 90% attrition beforehand, it starts to feel like I've chosen the wrong date.greiswig wrote:Hi,

So...
I'm going to postpone this event and see if I can get a different date at the church in March.
What I would like from you who are actually interested in attending is this: please PM or post here with 2 Sunday afternoons in March that would work for you. I'll look things over and try to come up with the best convergence for folks. I really would like to see this happen, and I think we all would learn something from a get-together. Plus it'd be great to meet people we've only typed to online.
I realize that, although the church has a no beer policy, there are good microbrews available nearby.

Re: Portland Dumble-fest - Mar 20, 2011!
As I told George in a PM, my health has been a bit on the shaky side and right now I am recovering from some kind of flu bug.
I was hoping that I would feel better by the 20th but right now I amp not sure.
The doctors need to adjust my medications to get my heart right.
So postponing it helps me a bit. I would love to have it when the weather is better but hey, this is Oregon where we say, if you don't like the weather right now, just wait 15 minutes.....
Hopefully we can all agree on a date where the majority of us that live in the general area can meet up.

Flexible for March. If you want to do a small one on the 20th I would still come down.

I've heard from some of you, but want to make sure I get a decent estimate of numbers. So...RSVP!
