If you mean show off what you bought... I.E. "Ain't my new Purple SLO pretty" then I agree.

There ya go  :D

I can see how some people might be concerned about the direction it's going...there has been an upsurge in Dumble-related threads on TGP and this place has been mentioned and some folks come here to learn more. I happen to think that it's probably just a cycle and will die down and that this place will remain a somewhat smallish, more close-knit forum than most. But I might be totally wrong on that and that's the concern I guess.

snider,
All that Dumble experience and you've only posted 5x in almost 2 years? Please post more. :)

IMO, things are pretty good around here, whether or not we get the occasional "my amp is SLO pretty OMG" thread.

Why don't we let the guy footing the bill for the web space and taking precious time to moderate the forums decide when things are out of hand.

Because that guy is worthless!!! Oh, wait, that's me. :D

Last words on this topic so we can move on:
- I think we have a good thing going here.
- I don't think we need more moderation. There are some off the mark posts that will be made due to the growth of the community.
- Lurkers are always welcome. If we were going to start banning lurkers, then I would have to ban myself since I don't post very often in this area.

Please remember that this is getting to be a fairly large community. It's unrealistic to think that everyone will get along. If you think that there are people that are out of line, report them to me via PM. No public floggings, please. This will keep the forum from being perceived as a hostile place.

Now, please no more postings and let's get back to talking about amps.

This ain't 18watt.com or TGP!!!

I take the same bend as Omar as the mod for SEwatt.com, let this go on their own and jump in when the noise is too great. No need to be heavy handed.

One great thing about this place is that we have a Tech area and Garage area where a wide variety of topics can be discussed. I personally think the Garage area (Open forum) is needed in most every forum as the community may want to ask questions of their forum pals that are not "amp" related.

As usual, am late to the discussion.

I agree with Brandon for the most part.

Let's all just simply direct the off Dumble or Trainwreck topics from the newer folks to re-post over in the garage talk area. I'm all for anyone wanting to learn or help here, but as this forum grows bigger and bigger keeping it on topic is a must. After all that's why we have separate discussion forums. Maybe as a last resort, change the index's to say Dumble / Trainwreck Discussions Only. The same could be said for the files section as well.

However, as the forum grows, I have seen newer posts asking the same question that were answered many times in the past (I am guilty of this too). Maybe it's human nature to find the easiest path, by simply askng, but I strongly suggest anyone wanting to to seek out an answer to do so first using the SEARCH function from the wealth of past discussions. This is great forum. Moving on....

Maybe I was a bit harsh in suggesting that we be more exclusive, but I'd like to keep this site as "A TUBE AMP BUILDERS COMMUNITY" as the name suggests, which would also indicate that the "Dumble Discussion" is a place to discuss the construction of Dumbles, and techniques, parts choices, etc.

If you all haven't noticed I am a pretty big supporter of the DIY community, and I have no secrets-- I share all. I produce parts and make them available at MORE THAN REASONABLE prices, as well as provide instruction on building your own amps. I am just as happy to help someone build their own amp as i am to sell them one. I am not here to sell amps, I am here to help people build their own, and I am certainly not here to argue moot points with gear pagers. If you want to learn please stay, If you want to build- How can I help you?
That's all I'm saying.

I agree.

This forum is an oasis of wisdom in a vast galaxy of cyber-space junk, and to let it disintegrate would be a real shame. As a relative newcomer to this forum and D'cloning, I feel I have very little to offer to the rest of the community at this stage. However, seeing the commitment and dedication that so many members have is a real inspiration and makes me even more determined in my efforts.

Perhaps inappropriate posts/posters that stray onto the forum could be gently guided to a more suitable location thus ensuring they receive responses more relavant to their post.
