I think if you guys continue to lead by example the forum survive the

Thanks everybody
+1 exactly why I'm here as well. Wish I could contribute more but got a lot to learn first :(

An example of the childish nature of this forums seniors

Post by bnwitt »

Well I thought I would pop back in here one more time and thank all of you who sent me supportive emails and post the latest vicious attack Mr. Montgomery has emailed me. This is just one of his many nastygrams and I am publicly asking him in this forum to cease and desist with his offensive communications and any further emails.

What you don't get is that I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING, so please go away, our little forum is much better off without you anyway.

the saddest part is that everyone is just LAAAAAAAughing about your post, "I'm taking my marbles and going home cuz I'm a little piss baby and no one will do the work for me, waaaaahhhhhhh!"

Barry,

Your pics are up in the files section at the amp garage, thanks for being so patient, and not jumping to any conclusions, or being self-righteous, or an ass in-general.

Enjoy

Brandon

So, all of you forum members who found my post without merit let me just tell you that there is a whole behind the scenes communication that takes place between senior forum members that you know nothing about. In this back channel they review submitted layouts and schematics and snicker about the mistakes made instead of posting the errors to help produce an accurate layout. It is that back channel content and its "snatch the pebble from my hand grasshoper" mentality that led me to make my post in the first place. Tube communities are supposed to be about sharing not hoarding.

Ming the mercilous has been so nasty that I have now told him to go F himself. I'm out of here and I would ask Omar to delete my logon. I will send the asteroid layout to anyone who emails me from my website.

For the viewers out there that are "Sensitive" I'll go ahead and leave out all the "Colorful" emails Mr. Witt sent me.

Interesting... So people who are friendly off of forum, in real life, that happen to be senior members, are not supposed to be able to have this "back channel"? The same members responsible for almost all of the factual info. The same members that on a regular basis do assist people through PMs and phone calls. Correcting said errors.

There is indeed info that has not been shared. But that is more due to promises made to those who shared said info that it would not be publically posted.

Kind of sucks to be mislead about the forum completeness when paying all those dues....

I guess I'm guilty as well - I usually post the schematic as built and sounding good. Then I generally do 1 or 2 tweaks that I don't post, but any builder (even a new builder) could easily arrive at the exact same tweaks by changing 1 or 2 components (see the tweaking order post https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=3779 ). If I did the same changes to every amp I would post it. I don't know of any super secret schematic or layout changes that affect the overall great tone of these amps. In most cases the things that are not posted because they might betray a confidence are fads that only apply to one or two amps. Face it some guys make a living doing this and can't be expected to give away the farm. On the other hand they are roped into consistancy and can't modify their design and change every amp they make to keep up with the new ideas unfolding weekly on this forum.

The only stuff I don't share is stuff I've been asked not to, otherwise I'm pretty much an open book. Any stuff that takes a while is just because I am extrordinarily busy working a regular job@ 50+ hours/week and another 20 packing parts and building amps.

I'm new to this forum and know hardly anything about Dumbles, but I've gotten a lot of great info from senior members here via back channel communications. These people don't know me and have no reasonable expectation of getting anything in return (at least not in the near future; I certainly intend to contribute whatever I can as I gain experience with these amps).

There is a lot of secrecy surrounding these circuits, some of which I understand, some of which I don't, but when people are so generous with 95% of what they know I see no reason why anyone should complain about the 5% they choose to keep to themselves - especially when the stuff they do share is the product of years of effort on their behalf. This forum wouldn't even exist if it weren't for some of the same people being attacked in this thread.

I don't know anyone that won't share if asked directly, the point of back channels is really to keep people who don't contribute anything from getting new info to use for profit.

If I can get to 95% I'll be really happy. Already been given info on the back channel just by asking. Wonder if I'll ever have the patience to want the last 5%... lets get to 95% first...

Few know but many suspect; at random times each year, 33rd degree masons meet in nuclear subs under the polar icepack and change the recipe for 'the goop' . Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned this.

Does any one actually know what the Goop is? It's translucent so I don't think it's auto gasket sealant, someone actually suggested "Marine Jelly" any thoughts?

Well I'll admit, I haven't posted a schematic or layout in quite a while but I do have this to say:

This is for the 99.05% of the forum that loves to build and experiment.

1. We know these amps are not a build to print, and plug and play.
2. We are are a lot of generous/helfpul friends on this forum.
3. We don't expect or demand to be handed the schematic, layout, parts list, and build instructions, but our hats are off to you for doing so.
4. We like to help each other out.
The fun is in building, tweaking, and learning about these wonderful amps.

This is for the 0.05% of the forum:
1. Don't expect to join the forum, download the schematics, layouts, and parts lists, then complain that info was wrong.
2. It's not a plug and play design. Each amp has got to be tweaked for your own personal sound. That's how HAD completed his amps, and that's how you'll have to complete yours too.
3. So if that's not your cup of tea, then go buy an amp.
4. You'll probably still be dissapointed anyway.
