Hi tonelab2,

I responded to Gary:
I measured the voltages and V2b was only 86-90V (with two different tubes).
Maybe I should try third one just to be sure.

I don't disagree with the tonelabs comments (it could be a tube) but I thought I remember you saying you tried a different tube.

On that note. There is only a couple of other places.

1. Try a different tube.

2. Check V2b grid return to ground. This is setup by the Drive (gain) control (100K or 250K) to 180K to Grid pin. Check the the grounding of the drive control, this is the ground return for the grid. The resistance from the grid to ground with the the Drive control set to zero should be about 180K ohms. With Drive maxed it will be the pot size plus the 180K.

3. Tube connections, albeit it looks like the plate and cathode connections are in place.

Ok, I will try to swap the V1 and V2 tubes tomorrow + measure the resistance between the grid and drivepot ground on both extreme positions. I try to find some stuff to spray on the socket to it to make better contact.
Thanks again, reports tomorrow,

Gary, You nailed it :D
Check the grounding of the drive control, this is the ground return for the grid.
Just when measuring the resistance I noticed a loose ground wire on the drive pot  It was a bit of out of sight under the corner of the chassis.

Again, very BIG thanks to You 8) 8) 8)
