As usual, the build looks great. I'm always impressed with your part selections. Seems like your are straying from the 6PS convention, care to fill us in on your cap choices and the thoughts behind them?

Is that a switch on the back of the mid pot! For?

Also, I'd second the request for a copy of the main board layout. I have a custom rj chassis that I had made up a 6V6 HRM and the board would move the project along nicely.

Thanks for your consideration.

Eric
Thanks guys.

Parts selection: Eric as far as parts selection I'm just sort of following HAD's lead and there's some experimentaion. While I do believe there are certain part recipes for certain circuits, I also believe a good amp can be made with "alternative brands".
In the later amps you start to see more usage of NTE metal films, a CGW thick film resistor on V1 and also several different types and brands of caps particularily in the PI secton. For example, you see amps with AE (blue) .1 caps in the PI. I ran across some AE .1's and figured why not try them.

Mid pot: pull it to lift the HRM tone stack.

Layout: here's a main board layout, only difference is that it has the standard(pf cap mounted on the mid boost switch) treble cap/midboost layout.

Also Eric, I like the general setup as you can just pull the four 6V6's, install two EL34's and just rebias.

Possibly, that's was kind of my conclusion when I faintly researched them way back.

Looks like a great versatile build TM
Looking forward to your thoughts on the caps, and the build in general.

Yep, I'm slow. I just need to add the few components across the front controls, tack in the buss bar and drop in the string resistors. I think I will fire it up with EL34's this time.

Still following this one. Looks great! Especially the big assed trimmers! You must be itching to flip the switch. Here's to a happy power up!

I hate the smaller 6mm and 10mm trimmers when using eyelets. Funny thing is, not really. Around 3 weeks or or so I sort of felt like Forrest Gump when he up and quit running across country. I think that was a sign that maybe it's time to move on to something else. I do have a few build projects to finish up though.

Thanks for the kind words

Mike

Looks like you are using one our your fancy custom Heyboer PTs. What specs do you order? If 6V6 and EL34 are interchangeable, you got the heater amps to be ? If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost?

I've got a few PTs from 2 6L6 Fenders I was going to use for my build but I haven't thought them out quite yet.

Build looks great!

Thanks Eric

Pri - 122V
Sec - 295-45-0-295 @ 400mA This PT I dropped the HT voltage slightly, previous quad 6V6 builds were 307-45-0-307.
6.3V @ 500mA
6.3V @ 5.5A, which is plenty for a 6V6,6l6 quad or a pair of EL34's.

IIRC, $118 shipped
