Finally done ... and it works as advertised. The cleans are much better with the standard bright cap but it's removed when OD is running. Perfect! Thanks Tom and everybody.
Just to tie this thing up. I went back to True Value and got a whole new set of bolts, nuts and nylon spacers ... but in #6 size. Slowly and slighly reamed out the holes on the relays to fit the #6 hardware. Ended up pulling a lead off the main board while doing all this ... had to take it apart and find/repair it. Felt like I had sausages for fingers ... geez.
Been thinking about building another amp ... I think all the little problems I had with this minor adjustment & the better blackface performance from the adjustment ... killed my "builder GAS" for a bit. Maybe later.
