Agreed too,

I had only posted on there in hopes of bringing the facts to the table.

I've slowly gotten sick of all the internet bull surrounding Alexander Dumble. I've talked to many Dumble owners and the consensus seems to be that HAD can be a nice guy. The internet has really destroyed his reputation.

LOL, I've got nothing but respect for HAD. The man was a pioneer after all when it comes to modern tube amp design.

My intention was not to slander but to educate. There are more than enough extremely talented builders on this forum that we all try are hardest to bring only the facts to the table and leave the lore at the door. :)

And I can respect that! I have Brian Gerhard's back much in the same way. However I would turn him down if he were to ask me to post a video. I don't want to be his Kaiser.

Okay now can we all get back to why that Gretsch guitar running through a Dumble amp sounds so freaking good :D

I've known Tavo about 6 or 7 years now and I got to tell you he's a good guy. He has a start up business doing a pre amp based off the RE 301 that's a pretty remarkable piece of equipment. He has donated auctioning off his pedals with the proceeds going to St. Judes Hospital. It may not be much but it's a considerable load to his business. Ask me and that really doesn't sound like a shithead now does it? If you're at all interested here.

IMO these videos are a great demonstration of the (sometimes overlooked) fact that Dumble amps aren't synthesizers with built in "Politician" (Robben Ford) or "Texas Flood" (SRV) algorithm presets but versatile musical instruments that can be used to create and perform electric guitar music in many different musical environments (Tom Verlaine as an example for Punk with a Dumble).

Why shouldn't this make people want to buy a Dumble/clone?

Or are you really that sure, that todays guitar players are again as close-minded and buttoned-down as my parents have been, who did always laugh bewildered when I listend to Hendrix or Captain Beefheart?

Cheers,

Max

What makes me part of the BZ amp commentary/ situation and what constitutes calling me a shithead?

Well, sonically, the emphasis on the sound was from the Eventide effects processor and whatever else he was using (see the "studder effect"). But the amplifier and having Mr. Dumble in the video put the emphasis on the amplifier. He's so elusive that this cameo is really all the world has in terms of hearing him speak.

So Mr. Dumble would play this blues riff, and suddenly there's this guitar sound that sounds like he's playing behind the nut. But if you think it bodes well for Dumble amplifiers and their reputation, I won't argue.

I should say that it's clear that Kaiser is a great player.. and certainly has the chops. It just seems this video has opened up an easy target for criticism (even from me :))

Well I guess I was being quite ignorant in not realizing Henry Kaiser was trying to be technical in that video.

Sounded like dog shit to me. :) Anyone can stutter a note to death or make a whole lot of noise through pedals but because I don't have a producton crew to film me I guess no one will know how talented my noise making skills are. :)

Basically what you have with Henry Kaiser ((Permanente) is a rich kid that was able to do pretty much whatever he wanted.
He was into weird effects and experimental music quite a bit.

To HAD he was probably a cash cow that enabled him to do things he wanted to.

So no, I don't feel that clip with the weird synthesizer noises and stuttering is any kind of demonstration of a Dumble amp.

I kind of wish that Howard had put that one in a vault somewhere and put out something a bit more toneful.
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

While I appreciate the edit, I still want to know why you'd put a fellow amp garage member down. What constitutes you referring to me wiredturte/ tv the wired turtle/ Tavo Vega, as a sh$thead.
Whats the issue, if I've wronged you..help me make it right

If youre referring to me in the thread at the GDP, you can see quite clearly that I was upholding that dumble amps actually sound great.
