Okay, I spoke to my church and we can use the main stage. It's a pretty big hall, somewhat lively. It's a fun space to crank the amps in. ;-)

So...trying to narrow down a date for this, it looks like the best days are Sunday afternoons starting at about 2:00, and February looks like about the soonest we could do it. So I'm thinking February 20th from 2:00-7:00 or so. How does that work out for you all?

I think it would be helpful (to me at least) to have people bring interesting cabinets and speakers, as well as their amps. This way we can get some idea of what the fuss is about regarding various amp versions, EVMs, Thiele cabs and so forth. It would also be great to do some impromptu workshops (e.g. "how to tune your PI trimmer").

The previous feedback about having separate rooms for this is well-taken: I can easily see how this might end up being a train wreck (no offense, Ken) of everybody playing every amp all at once. However, I don't have a facility that can supply several different rooms. There are basically two rooms here, one is the sanctuary and one is the storage room. So suggestions from people who have helped organize this kind of thing before are welcome. My main goal is to compare notes, compare tones, and meet some people I've wanted to meet for a long time. From the looks of things thusfar in this thread, we have about 6 people threatening to come, and I think keeping it under a dozen or so mitigates the issue of having too many people playing at the same time. If we get more, great, but we'll want to overflow into that storage area, I bet.

This being a church, I would remind people to treat it with respect: beer is unfortunately not welcome, although there are good microbreweries in the area for afterward.

So...let me know about the date, and keep the suggestions coming.

Okay, all, I have reserved the main building at Village Baptist Church for February 20th from 2:00 until about 6:00. Let's get some good amps, cabinets, speakers and guitars in and play! Oh, I guess we'll need some decent players, too.

Looking forward to exchanging ideas and hearing some different builds and speakers.

Here is the address:
330 SW Murray Blvd.
Beaverton, OR 97005

Thought it might be helpful for us attendees to post what we'll be bringing, and what we're interested in hearing. That way we can optimize what we haul.

What I can bring:

Amps - Dual KT-88 D'Lite, 100k non-HRM classic stack. Hoping to have 500V on the '88s plates by then, but not sure that'll happen.

Cabs - Bob Burt V-12 angled 2x12, homebrew 12"/10" cab.

Speakers - Sholz Sugarcone, Scumback M75-LDHC, WGS Blackhawk, Celestion G12-65 Reissue and a 1984 G12-65, Jensen Neo 100, older OEM EVM-12L, Scumnico.

Guitars - Schroeder dual humbucker, Tele

What I'd like to hear:

Amps - Bluesmaster, an HRM, a #183 copy

Cabs - Glaswerks Theile (how does it compare to a "regular" Theile?), Forte 3D 2x12 vertical and 1x12

My Bloozman HRM may be sold soon. If it does go I will bring my version of #124, 100W head, and my Boogafunk TL806 refitted with a Fane Studio 12L. That should be interesting I think.

Guitar will be my Epi Elitist 57 Goldtop with pickups from a '65 SG Std.

I too would like to hear a #183.

My amp is a combo with an original Celestion G12H30, open back. Preamp is "hybrid rev a" with switchable HRM. Power amp is 7591 cathode bias

Will bring a couple guitars with different humbuckers, and a strat style with DuncanSSLs

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a Forte 2x12 3D cabinet that may be here in time, so I guess we'll get to hear that!

Cool!
I hope it comes in time, I have been wanting to check one of those out.

Those use a real interesting concept for standing wave rejection.

Which speakers will you put inside it?

Which would you like? ;-) Seriously, I'm bringing a bunch of my speakers, and hope to be able to do swaps in various cabinets to try some things out. So if you have raw drivers that you'd like to try in either of the cabinets I have, feel free to bring them along.

I'd still really like to try one of Gary's Theile cabs, too. (nudge nudge)

I would really love to try a pair of Celestion 12-65's.
Never played through those.
Also if anybody has any Eminence Delta Pro's that would be cool also.

I will bring:
D'lite 44 (6L6)
100w ODS clone (real close to #102)
Dumbleator & TC Electronics G Sharp

Vox 2x12 with two EVM 12L's

Lopoline with a WGS V30 & CL80.

A few guitars.

I ended up getting my Tonkerlites back from a guy
that I sold them to. He didn't want to pay for them...
So I can bring those raw if you like.

Tom,

I'm buying a second G12-65 just for you. Okay, for me, but partly so we can hear a 2x12 loaded with just the Celestions.

Another thing: Jim Seavall is sending up a couple of other speakers for us to try out: the J75 and H75 versions of the G12-65.

This may turn out to be a speaker fest as much as an amp fest, but I'm looking forward to trying some stuff out!

That's a good idea. Unfortunately, I don't have decent equipment for recording video/audio remotely. I can supply a decent mic and preamp if need be.

If we do audio recording, I'd be curious what most people would want: SM-57 on a speaker, or a good room mic like a Microtech-Gefell?

I usually use a small mixer, 2 sm57's, for each mic into the input of the camera. One sm57 on the cab 1 for the person explaining the amp. SM57's are easy enough to use that you won't need to screw around with mic placement.

Yep, the J75-LHDC and H75-LHDC shipped out to you today, George. Let me know when they get there, sir! These two already had the FBI (full break in) service done to them.
