The OC3 is in a nutshell a voltage regulator... Basically neon gas filled tube that regulates voltage as it conducts..It drops the voltage exactly 100v from the input ..Generally speaking the screens like to see a regulated voltage in return promotes reliability as well as tube life.. it does however reduce the output power of the tube slightly..The sonic qualities are due to the drop in voltage more so than the regulating qualities.. The results are a more top end chime clarity when used clean and a more wool-ly expressive breakup in OD.. It's a subtle effect but is more noticeable as you push the output section..It does change the character of the breakup which some are not used to so it's an aquired taste and seems to sound and perform better when dealing with plate voltages in to 500v and above range..It also requires a bit more filtering on the screen supply.screen resistors optionalAJD wrote:Love that growl. Pardon the newbyism, but what is OC3?talbany wrote:

The OC3 is a part of the expressive growl we like..
I am glad you like the amp..
