I recall trying Field 41 at the "Great Northern" lodge when I was in Snoqualmie a couple of years ago. I'll have to look for the others!

Two-hearted is great! These days for me it's much less of the fizzy malts and more the distilled ones from the River Spey and thereabouts.....

If we're keeping this thread derail going, my favorite scotches are always the Islay Scotch. Smoky, seaweedy, mmmm yum! Like a campfire in your mouth

I lived in Reston Virginia for 2006 and I was introduced to all the different Samuel Adams beers.
That was a great summer.

Happy New Year!

Blashphemy! If you go to Scotland and order a scotch you'll get the bottom-shelf supermarket blend. Like drinking turpentine. For something you can taste, always go for the single malt. Macallan, Dalwhinnie and Tomatin are all very different and excellent fare!

Happy New Year!

I'm specifically talking about single malt islay scotch. I've been to scotland and have a flight of Islay single malts. Lovely stuff.

Relax all. Many fine single malts, and most though not all Scotch. Much mediocre blended whisky, but lots are excellent too.

I've heard my tone improve dramatically with a mild-to-moderate prescription of Lagavulin 16, speaking of Islay single malts.

LOL. Well, furthering this tangent along it's smooth trajectory...

...Last year, on a visit to D.C. where I semiannually reunite with my old bandmates for a recharge if I'm lucky, we grabbed sushi at a highly decorated outfit on the side of the (then) Trump International Hotel where we dined on 14 individual nigiri courses, in between the which we cleansed our palates with about $3000 worth of sake. (Drummer's treat!) One of the courses was a hay-smoked Scottish salmon; the flavor was *incredible*. It led me to research various methods of smoking, particularly for whiskeys. Come to find out, just as Scottish single malts tend to be smoked with the locally available peat bog fare, the Japanese smoke some of their whiskey with hay, and the Icelanders (being not that close to peat bogs) will smoke their whiskey with ...drum roll... sheep dung. Without a second thought, as it turns out, they've been doing it for years! It's "green", sort of muddy, au natural of course...Whoever said "Screw 'farm-to-table', let's get 'shit-in-a-glass'!" was a daring soul, at the very least. For anyone interested, look up FLÓKI SHEEP DUNG SMOKED RESERVE.

Quoted from this link: https://whiskystories.com/2021/01/26/fl ... ve-review/

"Finish: Woah, there’s that intensity I was looking for! They say you can’t polish a turd, but this is where the sheep dung really shines. The taste is quite astringent, as notes of cloves combine with a lingering ashy aftertaste. Memorable!"

There, I ruined the thread!
