Could I actually be done with this freakin’ footswitch? Jeez I hope so, lol.
Martin, I should have known there’d be an app, lol. I’ll look into that and what type of adapter? Something with a 1/4” plug that will receive signal from the app?

At this point the power amp is complete, so one can feed signal into the PI and dial the trimmer in.ijedouglas wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 7:56 pmMartin, are you suggesting to set the PI trimmer before wiring up the rest of the amp?martin manning wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 6:50 pm A phone app and a cheap Bluetooth adapter will work. Not strictly necessary, but you could use that to set the PI trimmer.

Re: First D-style (102) build opinions solicited & build thread:
In my experience this would be a waste of time and effort. Without the full set of tubes the voltages will be off and therefore render the trimmer setting useless. The trimmer setting is also dependent on the output volume setting which would be difficult to simulate correctly. I understand the whole "test as you go" approach but this seems to be a hell of a lot of time wasted that could be better utilized once the amp is complete and you can actually tweak and test different resistors, caps, lead dress, tubes, OD and PI trimmers, speakers etc.martin manning wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 8:14 pm A this point the power amp is complete, so one can feed signal into the PI and dial the trimmer in.

As long as the pins match the chassis side ;^)Raoul Duke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 8:11 pm Could I actually be done with this freakin’ footswitch? Jeez I hope so, lol.
For about $15 you can get a Bluetooth receiver that will have RCA jacks or 1/8" stereo plug. Probably need an adapter to get to 1/4" phone plug for the Power Amp In jack, or maybe just clip leads would do. You may not get as much voltage as you would like, as they are designed for consumer line level inputs.Raoul Duke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 8:11 pm I should have known there’d be an app, lol. It's easy enough to dial up half-power into a load resistor (per Ampeg method) and get it close, far from useless, IMO. Voltages won't be far off with only the preamp current draw missing.ijedouglas wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 8:22 pmIn my experience this would be a waste of time and effort. You will also want to tie together the throws and poles on your switch on the left side the way you have done that on the right side.Raoul Duke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 8:11 pm Could I actually be done with this freakin’ footswitch? Jeez I hope so, lol.

Re: First D-style (102) build opinions solicited & build thread:
I was wondering about that, will do. Thanks guys!
As far as the switches on the amp side - I’m tempted to bring it up on the limiter to test just to know.
I really hope it works. Pretty sure it will, but I won’t label the box until I know just in case.
Sometimes the simplest things escape me for some reason…

Up and running.
Not hearing the relays switching when I have the pedal plugged in, but the lights light.
Unplug the pedal at the chassis and I get the relay “click” when I move the switches. Also hear the relays via manual switching with the pedal plugged in

If the LED's come on it should be working. You can always check resistance/ continuity across NO relay contacts to verify that they have been energized.

Re: First D-style (102) build opinions solicited & build thread:
When the lights on the pedal (either switch) are lit, the voltage at chassis din pin 1 or 5 is 4 vdc. After switching off the pedal (either/or) the voltage at pin 1 or 5 is 25 vdc.
Oddly, I’m getting 24 vdc at the VR and the coils of the relay boards as well.

With the footswitch unplugged and the chassis switches on pedal, what is the regulator output voltage?

Disregard - my stupidity wins again.
I was reading in the wrong setting on the DMM.
So sorry you guys have to deal with my “new guy” issues!

Input is the same? seems like it may have failed, shorted. Or something is miss-wired?
