Many Dumbles use a 30% taper pot for the input gain. I'd suggest running a minimum of 1 oclock on the clean gain. I prefer 2 oclock personally. This with a 15% Alpha. Be careful with CTS. Some are 10% taper. You will need 3 oclock then!!!
If setting the clean like this, there is plenty of volume relative to the OD.
Internally, I do not set my OD trim over about 25-28K from ground. This is the sweet spot for me. If you have it cranked, that will also effect the balance.
Lastly, make sure your global master is at least a 15% taper. Remember, CTS 10% is bad.....

I prefer 2 oclock personally. This with a 15% Alpha.
