You need to figure out which wires are for the primary 120 winding.. If you get out your meter I would start at Black and Black..The 240 V tap should read a higher resistance ..Your readings should be fairly low in the 10's of ohms..The 2 with the higher resistance 240..The 2 with the lower resistance 120..Double check and make sure your getting 120 out of the variac..
When you find the 6.3v on the filiment supply report back the voltages on the HT secondary as we then need to figure out if we need to bridge rectify it or not..Good Luck

Tony, thanks for your input.

I've fussed with this tranny enough to figure out that the primary is shorted ................ somewhere, so its time to move on to other iron I have laying about.

I have a cool one:

5950-00-199-3681
22R34

That tests in the right direction:

Black / Black set to 120 yeilds:

Green / Green @ 6.9v
Green / Yellow centertap @3.4v

Yellow / Yellow @ 5.5v

Red / Red @ 823v
Red / White centertap @ 412v

:D

So this is looking good, the size of this thing implies a 3-5 amp capacity, I'm looking for specs on it but that tends to prove frustrating unless you know where it comes from and I don't.

Given the fat that I've dug out 100 watt output and a decent power trannies a 100 build seems like a good thing.

What I'd ask those with more exprience is which Dumble circut is more forgiving of being put into a twin chasis? From what I've gathered the 124 seems less sensitive than the 101.............??????

Also need input on the type of rectification I need to work up in the HV, bridge????

Thanks, I hope this is entertaining as much as it is educational (for me)
