Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
I'm the proud owner of one as well.
I'm having mine tweaked (1/2 power switch, OD trimmer pot on the back panel and C-Wing tubes). Getting it back tomorrow
Just curious to hear the opinion of a real Dumble owner.

Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
That's great! I'm amazed at how many people try to compare various D-amps without optimizing at least this one trim pot. It makes all the difference in the response of these amps (sometimes I think it's even why the amp gets sold!). I much prefer the lower trim settings myself. Agree that the gig is the real proof as it's usually easier to get good tones at home.GregorHIlden wrote:It is not possible to get 100% the sound of the #94 Dumble I had - but after trimming I think the amp is really good now. But I'm only able to say more after a gig. It's different when you play amps at home or on stage.. got the chassis only and ordered a cabinet yesterday, so it will takes some weeks befor I can check the am live. All the best, Gregorjaysg wrote:Will you be trying to mod it to sound like your old OS, or something different?GregorHIlden wrote:It is a new OTS with 50 Watt

That's a somewhat unusual pairing for a D style amp, but whatever sounds good, is good.GregorHIlden wrote: I think amp is stock, the Vox 2 x 12 Blue Alnico Cab works great
Just be careful when gigging with that cab as (I'm sure you know) you are well over the power rating for those speakers, even though the ratings are conservative.....not cheap speakers to replace either!
Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
Hi Gregor,
a while ago I've had the same amp on my bench, to dumble-ize it still more than it was.
The voltages of the Ceriatone are spot-on correct, also most of the board's components. I've tweaked some values - but an important tweak has been, to swap the choke!
The Ceriatone choke - seen on the photo below - just does have a DC resistance of 30 ohms and an inductivity of about 1.5H - after I've swapped in a Fender choke (022699) w/ a DC resistance of ~100 ohms and an inductivity of about 4H the amp's sound has been much more organic, smoother - the previous rawness almost was gone.
I still was thinking about swapping the OT as well, because the Ceriatone OT IMO is sounding a tad too much british raw, but couldn't get a Prosonic OT quick enough here in Germany.
I'd recommend you swapping the choke and even the OT with a Prosonic OT! I anyway have to make some orders at certain suppliers in the USA - so if you want to have me, to order such an OT for you, just let me know.
Shipping cost from me here in Nuremberg to you in Munster isn't that much

Hi Gregor, have you taken a reading of where it's now set. It would be interesting to know what worked for you.It is not possible to get 100% the sound of the #94 Dumble I had - but after trimming I think the amp is really good now.
Cheers, Paul.

That's the sweet spot for mine as well. On my Fuchs and Two Rock amps I had them set fairly low too.GregorHIlden wrote:yes, it is set on 9 o clockGuitarman18 wrote:GregorHIlden wrote:Hi Gregor, have you taken a reading of where it's now set. Thanks a lot Larry, at this time I like the sound after adjusting the Trimmer. All the best, Gregornovosibir wrote:Hi Gregor,

I had no Problems with this cab - even at very loud volume on stage. But thanks for the advice, Gregorfullerplast wrote:That's a somewhat unusual pairing for a D style amp, but whatever sounds good, is good.GregorHIlden wrote: I think amp is stock, the Vox 2 x 12 Blue Alnico Cab works great

Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
Hi Gregor, thanks for the response. When you say 'yes, it is set on 9 o clock', is that looking from the FET board end or the filter cap end of the amp?

Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
I Paul sorry, I don't know, it is on 9 o clock at low volume (maybe 3 o clock is the right term. Or in other words: 1/4 from zero volume (75 % more possible)Guitarman18 wrote:Hi Gregor, thanks for the response. Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
Are we talking about the same thing here? The OD trimmer pot inside the chassis?
When ever I discuss it, I am looking into the chassis with the rear panel towards me.
Then looking at the trimmer, 0 is fully counter clockwise and full on is fully clockwise.
9 O'clock would be pointing towards the power transformer.

Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone
C'mon guys; he pointed out that the trimmer made the sound too gainy and compressed. Now it's less gainy and compressed. You can figure out what he has done with the od trimmer
