I also hang a 470k resistor from the mid pot to ground so it's still brassy, but not over the top. I still haven't tried the 270pF to ground on the mid pot.

Norm, digging the 470K resistor at the moment. I will take the amp to a gig next weekend and report back!

Still there, and the amp rocks. That and the small cap actross the Lead Master volume were the biggest two things towards curing my BM's issues. I have taken the amp out a few times and even A/B'd it with a 1982 ODS and it sounded... well, completely different than the Dumble. I love the old Plexi sound I get out of that amp. At band volumes and in a live mix -- following the principle that the louder an amp is played, the more will tend to sound like every other amp played loud -- the BM and the 100K Skyliner sound actually not that different from one another. However, when played in isolation, the BM can do Ritchie Blackmore or EJ type of tones with a Strat, while the non HRM will sound honkier, more sustainy, more compressed, etc. Still, not the amp I would probably pick if I could only have one, but I keep three of my amps in my private stock most of the time, and the BM makes up a great 33% of my inventory.
