Yes, it's missing the sparkle. I tried a 33pF on the master and felt it thinned out the tone, lost the girth. I'll measure the cables I have in the loop, they're failrly old guitar cables I've used in the loop since I built it.

I've run this amp through several cabs. My favorite Tonker/Swamp Thang cab sounds decent, the EVM15B actually have better highs, A Warehouse Celestion copy (can't handle the power) but still not the sparkle, the Delta Pro sounds the best overall.

There's also some dramatic tone change with tubes. The TungSol 6L6's are great. The TUngSOl 12AX7's leave something to be desired in the girth, the Mullards are somewhat dull on the highs but nice on the mids and lows, I've tried 3 EH's and they each sound completley different.

Maybe it's just a matter of breakin and volume. Not that I'm unhappy, it's a great sounding amp, and feels awesome to play, but I know it can be better.

Use quality cables Bob. I tried some old ones I had and they really thinned things!!! Bizarre but true. Any old decent gauge should suffice. Just not those old no name crappy ones.

These are the same cables I use on my other amps. I don't think that's the problem, plus the clean side sparkles and spanks.
