I love those clips.... Hard to hear the amp in them over the heinous clipping and lack of fidelity. I'd love to hear Dr Bill's Dumble with a close miced SM57, losing the horrid clipping distortion of the clip. Nothing like having a small camera mic's low bandwidth to remove all the high end. Not that the amp is harsh, but how would we know? There are no highs......
Let's get some well recorded, close miced samples in here to compare with..... Otherwise, it is apples to oranges.
Also, the sound of the room.... That camera mic is pretty far back.
But boy oh boy! I love those clipsFrom what i hear, that amp gets rented at times for recording, and was out at Mr Had`s place for a tube update back to 6L6`s. He "had" ( pardon pun!) to get a FRIEND who KNOWS Dumble to get it done!!!!!!!!!! Again, mere mortals....Thats the sound I`m after, I`m a huge Eric J fan, I`ve cut my teeth on Super leads and tubescreamers, that amp really does it. Even better! LOL! You`d have to ask Jason@Steelbender of course to get more clips. The fundamental is pretty easy to pick out, the horridness doesn`t even faze me! LOL! the 335 short clip is one of my fav`s. as is Strat#7. To me, to get a strat into 4 stages, to sound like it`s playing thru a triple rectifier is AMAZING! LOL!
PS: At least the encoding rate was really high!LOL

Does Dumble sound so much better?

Here are a couple. Keep in mind these are close miced with an SM57 and recorded on a home PC. No room tone at all.... The first two clips are the Eminence Red White and Blue speaker. More middy and less bright than the 3rd clip which is the Tonespotter. I will be making more clips this week. I made some changes to the SOD50 that I believe improved the tone a bit....
Glaswerks SOD50 w/HRM on with post OD bleed (47k slope and 390pf treb cap) http://www.scottlernermusic.com/glas/CminorBleed1.MP3
Glaswerks SOD50 w/HRM on and no post OD treb bleed (33k slope and 330pf treb cap) http://www.scottlernermusic.com/glas/Cm ... 3k330b.MP3
Fuchs SLX30 just recorded, amp is cathode biased w/2X6L6

Dog, do you recommend the sm57? I wouldn't mind being able to record some clips, mainly to help with figuring out problems, rather than trying to explain them:)
Re: Does Dumble sound so much better?
Well it is ubiquitous!
However, I hate it..... I have an Audix I5 and the difference in highs is amazing! Favoring the Audix. Both mics have that thin small diaphragm bass response.... Maybe the new EV Raven is the ticket! I am waiting on a demo unit.... It has a large diaphragm.
