I remember having seen this value (22k grid stopper) in original 100k plate load ODS amps with a "classic" tone stack and a "standard" OD circuit (trigger entrance, ratio pot, snubbers).

Just a thought here,

What if you used a 50K trim pot as the grid stopper to V1a?

That way you can dial in to what you like best.

My Super Twin conversion had two input jacks. Rather than a FET the input, the jacks go to either 22k or 33k grid stoppers on V1. That way I have a choice for which sounds best with each guitar.
